Whether a plant is suffering from pests, overwatering, underwatering, poor soil, disease or simply needs some professional attention, Hilda can assess the problem and provide the appropriate treatment.
The process is designed to feel a little like a real hospital stay. Plants are checked in, assessed and treated, with many staying for at least a week while the Hilda team works on their recovery. Owners can receive updates during their plant’s stay before collecting their patient, along with personalised care advice to help prevent the same problems from returning.

Hilda’s approach also extends beyond its hospital. The business offers a range of houseplants, pots and plant-care products, alongside services designed to help customers become more confident plant parents. Its workshops and events provide opportunities to learn about plant care in a more hands-on way.
One particularly thoughtful element of the business is Hilda’s six-month houseplant guarantee. Plants purchased from the shop are covered by the guarantee, and if one begins to struggle, customers can bring it to the Houseplant Hospital for a free assessment. If the plant cannot be saved despite following Hilda’s care advice, the business offers a replacement of equivalent value.
Hilda has also introduced a houseplant hotel, giving Edinburgh plant owners another option when they are travelling and need someone to look after their greenery.
